Your data controls are in the app. You can clear your analysis history or permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Data → Clear History or Settings → Account → Delete Account.
1. Who We Are
Recipe AI is operated by Blue January LLC ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Recipe AI mobile application ("App").

2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information: Your email address, name, age, and gender — provided when you create an account.
- Food images: Photos you capture or upload for analysis. Images are uploaded to secure cloud storage (AWS S3) and used solely to generate your results.
- Analysis history: The results of each food scan — food name, health benefits, recipes, smoothies, and nutritional highlights — stored so you can revisit them.
- Subscription information: Your subscription plan and status, managed through RevenueCat and Apple App Store. We do not store payment card details.
- Usage data: General app usage patterns to help us improve the product. We do not sell this data.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To analyse food images using AI (OpenAI GPT-4o Vision) and return results to you
- To store your scan history so you can access it across sessions and devices
- To manage your account and subscription
- To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset) via AWS SES
- To improve the accuracy and performance of the App
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services:
- OpenAI – AI image analysis. Images are sent to OpenAI's API and are subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- AWS S3 – Secure image storage. Images are stored with access controls and deleted when you delete your account.
- AWS SES – Email delivery.
- RevenueCat – Subscription management. Subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store – Payment processing for iOS subscriptions.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on AWS. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to data is restricted to authorised systems only.
While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune to risk. Please use a strong password and keep your credentials private.
6. Your Rights and Data Controls
You have full control over your data:
- Clear history: Delete all scan history — go to Settings → Data → Clear History in the app.
- Delete account: Permanently delete your account and all associated data (profile, images, history) — go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. This is immediate and irreversible.
- Update information: Edit your profile details at any time via Settings → Account.
- Data export or other requests: Contact us at info@bluejanuary.us and we will respond within 30 days.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data, images, and analysis history are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.
8. Children's Privacy
Recipe AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
